In the industry for over four decades and a veteran of 150 odd films, Vinod Khanna has been the man behind many a superhit, especially in the 70s and the 80s. However, what he did in his upcoming film KOYELAANCHAL is an experience that he would never forget.
"That's because he shot for the entire film in a reverse chronological order," informs a source, "The very first day of the shoot, he faced the camera for the climax shot. On the other hand his introduction shot was filmed on the last day of the shoot. The trend was the same for each of his scenes in the film."
Vinod Khanna was amused since this is the first time ever in his career where he had to go through such shooting schedule, and hence understand the character graph thoroughly, lest he missed a nuance.
"It wasn't planned this way though," says Asshu Trikha, who had directed the veteran actor in his very first film DEEWANAPAN [Arjun Rampal, Dia Mirza] earlier, "We intended to shoot the way it was supposed to play as per the film's narrative. However, at times it was due to logistics, at others due to weather. When a particular location wasn't available, we had to make best use of time and shoot at a place that was available. It was just a coincidence that for Mr. Vinod Khanna's scenes, this happened practically each time around."
A professional that he is, Khanna Sr. never cribbed or complained about the situation he was caught in. Gushes Asshu, "He had to grasp the character inside out so that he could get into the correct mind-frame irrespective of which order a scene of his was shot. I am amazed that he got it all so right."
We would love to see the final results once the film releases all over on 9th May.
